Making Disciples of Christ by Being Disciples of Christ

Missions & Outreach

Our local mission work is active, exciting, and effective in taking God’s word into our community. We are excited to share with you all the many mission opportunities of First United Methodist of Anniston.

The Glen Addie Community Church is a growing ministry meeting needs in the neighborhood it serves.

The meals served through Meals on Wheels, The Soup Bowl, Glen Addie Breakfast, Groceries with Grace, and Meals of Mercy nourish the soul as well as the body.

Basic daily needs of individuals are met with dignity through the help of Interfaith Ministries and the Community Enabler as they provide household assistance, clothing, and medical care for those in our community who appreciate support in a time of need.

Fellowship, care, and concern is expressed through the P.A.W.S. and Knitting for Peace ministries to many who are alone, grieving, or uncertain about health issues.

The JSU Wesley Foundation provides a church home for many college students who are making a choice to further explore and grow in faith at a time when many are making decisions for themselves for the first time.

The Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry and Haiti relief efforts are opportunities to take God’s love beyond our borders.

While we are active in these ministries, we are still growing. Newly emerging ministry areas include English as a Second Language, Team Effort, and an Aids Ministry.

The continued success and growth of our mission outreach is dependent on the involvement of every member of our congregation. Thank you if you have already made a pledge of your time and resources to these vital ministries. If you would like to be a part of the excitement and blessing that are given and received through these opportunities to partner with Christ, please contact Erna Hardy or call the church office.  Together we are making a difference!
